Happy Birthday Blog!!

Today is the blogs first birthday!! Happy Birthday Blue twentyone…so a whole 12 months, 365 days ago I said hello to the www, and as you’ll read from my first post it took me a while to make the leap.

Although I can’t seem to remember a time without the blog at the same time, this year has flown by. Looking back I’ve loved every post on the blog and had fun researching and posting them all. In the start I had high hopes for regular blogging but sometimes, well, life just gets in the way, I think I’ve stuck to blogging atleast once a week {with the exception of holidays!!}

Some of my highlights:

Thank you to all those who have supported the blog over the last year, whilst intially I set this up as a wedding blog, full of inspiration and planning advice, I’ve found that I’d like to share more of my ‘loves’ with you, so check back as I add some new/different posts to the blog, but don’t worry all things wedding won’t be overlooked I’m sure.

Here’s to another year of blogging! Cheers!

A new found passion!

At the beginning of February I attended Butterworth Photography’s first lifestyle photography workshop, Becky & Neil had organised a great day for us budding photographers, it started with getting to grips with the equipment,  starting the morning with Georgina coming to model for us around the lovely industrial surroundings of the Courtyard at Draycott Mills, it was great to have he opportunity to shoot and show Becky or Neil the images straight away, get there tips then go back to shoot again.

They even put on lunch, then just before the first snow of the year fell, Finley arrived to have some fun running around, pushing the scooter and posing for a few shots, even in the freezing temperatures!!

The workshop was rounded up with Neil running through Photoshop with us and what we do with our images after capture, a great insight into whats possible, although not one to change a image too much, just making the colours ‘pop’ makes all the difference.

I learnt ALOT, I’ve always had a interest in ‘looking’ at good photography,  since starting the blog my passion for photography has increased, but all the time realising that my poor point and shoot camera just wasn’t capturing what I was seeing….the workshop really did make me see what you can achieve!!……I’ve got the next few birthday and Christmas presents all sown up, with the lists written!

So here’s what I managed to capture….Let me know your thoughts….(i think!)

If you fancy going along to one of Butterworth Photography’s Lifestyle  courses get in touch with Becky or Neil, the next one is 29th April 2012

Date night with Florence

I text Will and said “keep the 6th March free, were having a date night!” Date nights are something we’ve never planned, but it’s just stuck from there on in, initially it had more to do with the fact that Florence and the Machine were coming to Nottingham, and after getting a glimpse of her at Glastonbury, knew we had to go. I tried to keep it a surprise by saying it was a date night…!!

So last week we venture into the bright lights of the city and enjoyed what can only be described as a spectacle of a performance, she was A-MAZ-ING!! Every song {even the ones you didn’t know} she belted out and got the sell out crowd, tapping the feet, nodding there head, dancing, singing and in some cases {lady in front of us} screaming uncontrollably.

If you like your live music she’s a must see! There’s some awesome images here too, so take a peep at her amazing outfit!

from my iphone

I think I may have cheated slightly with the date night thing and I’m pretty sure I shouldn’t have invited Florence……but the two of us had an awesome time, tea before live music=Happy Couple! Which got us thinking that maybe we should make this a regular thing, now we have some rules {* says loosely*} Not too expensive, on a week night and we organise one each. So now it’s Will’s turn……..

What do you think to date nights? Do you do it?

So, lets find out about the duo?

We are Jack and Leckie, brother and sister stationery designing team based in the Midlands

Leckie

Then a proposal and an invitation design (by Jack) later I packed it all in for a career in Wedding Stationery and designing, developing and creating all things delightful. For me it’s the excitement of what we are able to create out of paper, the texture, colour and feel……I haven’t looked back! Now married with a little baby on the way!!!

Jack

Experience: Studied Art and specialised in decorative arts. I have always enjoyed print which lead to me starting my own T-shirt design company. Then came that design for Leckie’s Wedding invitations which ignited my ultimate passion for illustration. I just get so excited when all my doodling comes together!

So what’s coming up for Pocket Typewriter?

We have a very exciting year ahead of us, with not only me (Leckie) becoming a mum and Jack an uncle, but we are also working with lots of new brides and grooms!

Ok…..I’m back!!

Hello…..my last post was to you before we jetted off round the world to see our friends and family in Australia and New Zealand, we had an awesome time!

We’ve spent the last few days in a daze of cold weather, jet lag, afternoon naps and eating roast dinners for breakfast……It’s funny how the body reacts to changes!!

I’m still holding on to the holiday clothes and refuse to wear socks or pack away the flip flops just yet…..

Hopefully a weekend of relaxing in front of the fire will get us back on track……and who’s moaning we’ve just had a great trip.

Since being away and coming home I’ve felt much less stressed and have been doing things at a slower pace, now I’m hoping to keep up this relaxing lifestyle.

There’s a few things coming up on the blog, so stay tuned!

Sweet as!!

Bang on trend for 2012 and I also think it looks super cute, beautiful hairstyles and flowers!! I think these styles look great at more relaxed or country weddings. A great look for bridesmaid too, maybe replace a bridesmaid bouquet with a cute flower hair garland.
